Members
The members of the Ross Energy Club (REC) are a diverse group whose interests range from traditional energy trading and finance to emerging markets for carbon credits and new energy technologies. This variety of interests enables cross-pollination of students' knowledge from past and current experiences with University and corporate resources. REC currently has 170 members. An executive board of nine officers leads the club's activities.

Alumni
REC has helped members earn prominent positions at energy companies. Many former REC members remain active with the club and are available to help current students. In addition, the greater University of Michigan community has over 450,000 living alumni– more than any other University in the United States. UM alumni have proven to be a fantastic resource for career development and REC works vigorously to foster relationships with them. Alumni also help create and manage relationships between REC and top energy companies.

Recruiting and Education
REC provides regular opportunities for members to learn about the energy industry and meet energy company representatives. Recent speakers include representatives from ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell Wind, Pacific Gas and Electric, Duke Energy, National Grid, and Axio Power. REC also works with members to form recruiting strategies for both internships and full time positions, including resume reviews, mock interviews and peer counseling opportunities.

REC provides educational sessions on different sectors of the energy industry (from renewables to fossil fuels) to educate members with all levels of familiarity about the industry and its technologies. REC sponsors field trips for students to gain first hand experience at leading energy companies. Recent visits include guided tours of Next Energy, an alternative energy business accelerator, and ITC Transco, the nation's first fully independent electric transmission business. Opportunities for financial assistance to fund energy related conference trips are also available to REC members.

REC hosts an annual Carbon Symposium, including a case competition, and organizes energy panels within other conferences at the University of Michigan. The club also sends teams to compete in the National Energy Finance challenge and the NYMEX Commodity Challenge. As a service to its members and contributors, the club distributes a resume book to interested recruiters for both internships and full-time positions. Members receive weekly newsletters regarding events, recruiting, and other relevant issues.
